Our Story
At The Wood Doctor, our journey began with a solid foundation in manufacturing outdoor wooden furniture and umbrellas under the name McSon Umbrellas & Furniture in 2003, which is now known as Lifestyle Products. As our customers’ needs evolved, so did our services. They began requesting furniture repairs, and from there, we expanded into wooden fixture repairs for homes and corporate facilities, offering services such as door repairs, decking, and kitchen refurbishments.
In 2013, recognizing the growing demand for specialized wood maintenance services, we registered The Wood Doctor as a sister company to McSon Umbrellas & Furniture. This strategic move allowed us to focus on wood maintenance and repair, establishing ourselves as a trusted provider in the industry.
Our commitment to excellence caught the attention of major corporations. In 2018, during Absa’s rebranding efforts, The Wood Doctor was the go-to enterprise for their maintenance team, thanks to our reputation and community connections. This opportunity showcased our ability to handle large-scale projects and solidified our position in the corporate sector.
Our founder, Davidson Banda, inspired by our growth and success, envisioned a comprehensive solution that would not only provide top-notch services but also address social issues. This vision led to the creation of AfriSMME Hub. AfriSMME Hub offers accredited skills development, job creation, and business incubation from the grassroots level, tackling unemployment, poverty, early girl pregnancy, crime, and drug abuse. By empowering small businesses and fostering economic growth, we aim to bring hope and formalize small enterprises, contributing to the betterment of our society and nation.
